CROSSFIT COMMITTED

A gym for complete beginners in Prague, where nobody throws you into a class

Almost everyone who walks in here for the first time is scared of the same thing: that everybody else will be a ripped athlete and they'll look like an idiot.

Then they find parents and business owners in their forties who started exactly where they are. Most of our members came from zero, and none of them started in a class. Here's what your first weeks look like.

Your first weeks, step by step

  1. 01

    Kickoff Strategy

45 minutes, free. We scan your body composition, ask about injuries and goals, and tell you honestly whether we're the right place. No workout.

  2. 02

    Four coached sessions

You learn the basic movements with your coach, in a group of five or one on one. Never in front of a full class.

  3. 03

    Your first class

8 to 12 people and a coach who already knows you. Your version of the workout is scaled to your level.

  4. 04

    Your level, on a chart

The Level Method tracks 15 areas of fitness in an app, so you see yourself improve from week one, even from the bottom.

What a beginner's class actually looks like

A coach-led warm-up. Then the coach teaches the movements of the day and checks everyone's technique before any weight goes on the bar. Then the workout, where you do your version and the person next to you does theirs.

No mirrors, no headphones, nobody filming their sets. A private hall in Žižkov, a coach who knows your name, and a chocolate Labrador called Tuna who does not scale burpees.

You don't need to get fit before you start

People tell us they want to get in shape first and then join. That's cleaning the house before the cleaner comes. The first four sessions exist so you can arrive exactly as you are: stiff, out of breath, with a back that complains.

Technique comes before load, always, and every exercise has an easier version. One member who started with zero sports background says the chart on the wall is the reason she never quit: even at the bottom, you're moving.

Three fears we hear every week

“Everyone will be fitter than me.”

Some will be, for a few weeks. Nobody cares, because everyone is fighting their own numbers, and half the room started exactly where you are.

“I'll get hurt.”

Bad coaching hurts people. Every class here is led by a coach and capped at 12, and we've been coaching this way since 2011.

“CrossFit is a cult for athletes.”

It's 8 to 12 adults in a private hall, a coach who knows your name, and a workout scaled to what your body can do today. No screaming, no leaderboard you didn't ask for.

From people who started from zero

“First experience with any gym and I can recommend. Coaches are fantastic and always helpful with my many questions. 6 weeks in and I'm already feeling and seeing results in terms of strength, energy, and clothes fitting better!”

“Místo kde i takový odpůrce sportu a lenoch jako jsem já, začal milovat pohyb. Ochotný, komunikativní personál. Při lekcích se trenéři zajímají o každého. Skvělá a přátelská atmosféra.”“A place where even a sports hater and lazy person like me started to love exercise. Willing, communicative staff. During the lessons, the trainers are interested in everyone. Great and friendly atmosphere.”

“After working out for 3 months with CrossFit Committed, all I can say is I'm extremely happy! I can highly recommend CrossFit Committed, especially for total newbies, as myself! To start with, the one-on-one introduction lessons allow you to build up your strength and confidence, while learning the proper exercise technique under the supervision of a skilled (and fun, positive and motivating) personal trainer, thus ensuring that you will practice CrossFit in a controlled and safe manner.”

Beginner questions, answered

I've never been to a gym. Is that a problem?
No. Laura's Google review starts with “First experience with any gym”, and she's far from the only one. You learn every movement in four coached sessions before you join a class, and every class after that is led by a coach.
I'm overweight and very unfit. Will I be able to keep up?
You don't have to keep up with anyone. Every workout is scaled to you and the coach adjusts it on the day. Most people here started from zero, and nobody raises an eyebrow at how unfit you are.
What should I bring to my first visit?
Nothing special. Your first visit is a conversation and an InBody scan, not a workout, so normal clothes are fine. For training later: comfortable sportswear, trainers and a water bottle.
How often should a beginner train?
Three times a week is the sweet spot, and it's what our programs are built around: fixed slots in your calendar, so the decision is made once instead of every morning.
Can I just try a class first?
Not as a first step, and that's on purpose. Walking into a class you don't know is exactly what scares people off, so every new member starts with a Kickoff Strategy and coached sessions instead. The Kickoff Strategy is free and there's no workout, which makes it the easiest way to see the place.
Do I need to speak Czech?
No. Coaching runs in English. About half our members are Czech, and both halves complain about burpees in their own language.
Can I bring a friend?
Yes. The Kickstarter comes with a Saturday Buddy Pass, because Saturdays are the easiest day to show someone this place instead of describing it.
Will I get hurt?
Bad coaching hurts people. Every class here is led by a coach, capped at 12, and technique comes before load, always. Tell us about old injuries at the Kickoff Strategy and we'll build around them.
