Sorry for the late post but I couldn’t hold my arms up long enough to type last night.
If you didn’t come to the gym yesterday – you dodged a bullet. Really. Yesterday’s workout was one of those that makes you question your sanity and why you even come to the gym in the first place.
Continuing our newest tradition of the Long Thursday, yesterday we did one of the workouts from last year’s Regional competitions. The 100′s workout. It was brutal and I too began to question my resolve. You get to that point when you start to wish some natural disaster would happen so that you’d have to evacuate the building and, unfortunately, you wouldn’t be able to finish the workout. We live in the Czech Republic though, and here there aren’t any natural disasters except for the odd flood now and then and those don’t come around quickly enough to save anyone from the torture that we all experienced yesterday.
But..Everyone finished, surprisingly no one cried, however lots of you bled. Don’t worry about your newly mangled hands, though. Mike wrote a stellar article on hand care awhile back and you should all read it. There’s a great info graphic in his article on how to tape your hands when you have a tear or you think that you will tear a callus. All of you should buy a roll of tape and make some of those nifty callus covers and keep them in your workout bag at all times.
Considering the length and volume of the 100′s workout, there was no strength portion yesterday. After an 800m jog and some passthroughs, everyone got started right away with the workout
WOD: The 100′s
100 pull ups
100 kb swings 24/16
100 double unders
100 overhead squats 45/30
